Cacti

Cacti are super interesting plants that can survive the most harsh of conditions and habitats around the world.  They are made of fleshy succulent stems, pads or branches that are often covered in wax.  These stems are flexible and can expand or shrink during times of rainfall and apposing drought.  The spines come out of Areoles that are modified branches and can be seen at the base of the spines.  Areoles are an identity trait that sets them apart from other succulents.  With a vast variety of colors and shapes, cacti can capture the eye and interest of us all!
