Encephalartos Horridus

The Encephalartos Horridus is a fierce looking Cycad from South Africa where it rests on cliffs and rocky terrain.  This impressive, medium size Cycad grows to about 3' in diameter.  The Caudex, or Compacting Stem-Root can grow to 1' in diameter and take on a very unique characteristic.  The leaves are sharp and almost have a barbed appearance.  Each male and female grow a single cone often twice a year.  This beautiful, fierce Blue Cycad is an awesome choice for any collector.

Use a gritty soil amendment with your organic cactus mix.
