Bursera Fagaroides Torchwood Copal

Bursera Fagaroides, commonly called Torchwood Copal, is a Pachycaul and can be found in it's Native Habitat of Northern Mexico into Baja California.  This impressive Tree has been nicknamed Torchwod due to it's Resinous Wood being easy to ignite.  It can reach Heights of 30' tall and have a Swollen Trunk and Pealing Paper-LIke Bark.  Combined with a nice crown of Pinnate Leaves (small leaflets arranged along both sides of a Central Stem, the Rachis), this Tree is very attractive to Collectors of Bonsai, as well as indoor and outdoor Gardens.  The Resin has also earned it the name Mexican Frankincense and is commonly used in a similar manner in Oils and Incense.

Bursera Fagaroides or Torchwood Copal is Cold Hardy down to a Low of 20°F.
