Ferocactus Wislizeni

The Ferocactus Wislizeni is a Barrel cactus native to the southwestern United States and into Northern Mexico.  This species is nicknamed "Fishhook" cactus, due to the resemblance the spines have to hooks used for fishing.  This is a beautiful form of the species that has red spines.  The size of these impressive barrels can reach heights of 10' tall and a diameter of about 3'.  The flowers are pinkish yellow and quite showy!  Ferocactus Wislizeni is cold hardy down to 10F.

Use a gritty soil amendment with your organic cactus mix.
